On perhaps the warmest day of the spring so far, BCB's David Sameshima ventured back to Wrigley Field to take photos of the ongoing construction work. Here's his brief report.
I arrived at 12:15 p.m. They were still busy working in back of the bleachers. It was a bright sunny day, so it was difficult to see, and photograph, some areas under the bleachers. These were the areas in deep shadow. I could hear work taking place, but couldn't see much. Here are the photographs of what I could see.
You can see that they're getting ready to pour concrete in right field. With warmer weather it shouldn't take as long to cure as it did in left field, so it's possible the right-field seats could open up by early June. Both exterior walls are making good progress and should be ready, along with the main bleacher gate, by a week from tomorrow, when the left- and center-field bleachers are scheduled to open as the Cubs take on the Mets. I don't see any reason they wouldn't.
We'll have more photos here tomorrow.
