Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin

For baseball and coin enthusiasts such as myself: Congress passed legislation calling for three Hall of Fame commemorative coins. Members of the public can compete for the obverse designs of each. One possibility for the coin's common reverse is shown above (the others can be found in this article: http://news.coinupdate.com/ccac-reviews-national-baseball-hall-of-fame-commemorative-coin-reverse-designs-1906/ (If history is any guide, it will be one of the three boring ones at the bottom which will be selected.) For instructions on how to enter, go here: http://www.usmint.gov/batterup/?action=rules.

Don't know if any of you follow Todd Radom on Twitter, but he always has great baseball uniform/memorabilia images and links. I thought this was really cool.

A Small Attic Treasure

This weekend while visiting my grandfather, my aunt came across this old infielder's glove from the 1950's. Upon closer inspection we saw that the printed "autograph" on the palm was none other than that of Ransom Jackson, who was a third baseman during two stints with the Cubs, the first being from 1950-1955, and the second (and also his last season) in 1959. We all thought it was a pretty cool find and I would like to take this opportunity to share it with my BCB friends. Cheers!

My friend who designs shoes just made this sweet pair of shoes for my wife as a birthday present. She's gonna flip when she sees them. Sweet, huh?

OK, this was the night I made it. Chicken thighs, seared with the skin on, then set aside to use the rendered fat to sweat the carrots and onions. Then I added the things back in, a 32 oz. box of chicken broth, and additional water to cover, letting it go until it was a nice broth. Five different kinds of (canned) beans, drained and rinsed, and a bunch of kale were added when I took the chicken back out to (hand) strip the meat. Finally, most of a box of farfalle pasta. I just had the last bit of a frozen "sub-batch" for lunch. OK, now it's your turn!
