Name That Cub

Saturday Name That Cub

Let's interrupt our steroid discussion for a bit. Name this old-time Cub. As usual, a $10 gift card from Distant Replays to the first person with the correct ID. (Previous winners not eligible) Don't you love those old-style posed photos where the pitcher doesn't even have a ball in his glove?

Who am I?

Friday Name That Cub

Here's a little different twist on the Name That Cub idea.

The Little Leaguer in the second row, second from the right (of the four players pictured, not including the coaches in that row) is someone who would wear a Cub uniform many years after this photo was taken.

But who is it? Thanks to BCB reader bison for the photo.

Another $10 gift card from Distant Replays to the first to identify this future Cub.

Who is this future Cub?

Thursday Name That Cub

While we wait for the 2009 Cubs to report tomorrow (at least, the pitchers & catchers), name this Cub from the past. Clue: this one's about as obscure as it gets.

One change in this game: previous winners are ineligible to win again until 30 days have passed... this is to give a chance to others. Thanks!

Obscurity, thy name is...

Saturday Name That Cub

Many of the recent posts in this series have been from the 1960's. Your only clue to this one is that it's not from that decade.

A $10 gift card from Distant Replays to the first person with the right answer.

Who am I?

Name That Cub... With A Twist

BCB reader Al Spangler sent me this photo... yes, there is a Cub pictured in it. Name both of these people and win a $10 gift card from Distant Replays.

A Cub... and friend

Wednesday Name That Cub

Rather than just pick random names off baseball-reference.com, try to think about who this might be. There's more than one clue in the photo.

Think....

Tuesday Name That Cub

Do you think Jim Hendry is done dealing? For now, I think he is. Perhaps he'll make another acquisition during spring training; he hints as much in today's Sun-Times:

"We're ready to go to camp and adjust after that," Hendry said. "We picked up Reed Johnson last year on [March 25]. We'll scout spring training like we always do.

"We're in good shape, but we'll always stay active in the scouting process. Lots of good players are left who haven't signed yet, and we'll continue to keep an eye on that, too."

In the meantime, have some fun and name this sun-drenched Cub. A $10 gift card from Distant Replays to the first person with the correct ID.

Name me!
