Bleacher Reconstruction Update - January 23

David slogged through the snow -- OK, so it's not really slogging when it's not snowing and 38 degrees -- to take these photos on Sunday afternoon.

I was going to take a photo myself later this week of the pile of bricks near the old car wash on Waveland, but David beat me to it.

The closeup photos of the brick wall should answer some of the questions some of you asked regarding the makeup of the exterior wall.

The timeline has also been updated.

Top: Closeup of a brick; bricks piled up behind CF; brick wall at corner of Sheffield & Waveland; immediately south of previous photo

Middle: Closeup of view in row above, last photo; bricks piled up at old car wash on Waveland; new bleachers in LF; construction office trailer, west side of ballpark (where the TV trucks park during the season)

Bottom: Crane lifting steel into place on Waveland; another view of work on Waveland

Al, when are you or David....
gonna sneak into the ballpark and get some pix from inside ? LOL!! I did this when I was like 13 years old and they say baseball brings out the kid in us, so, why not ? Just kidding guys ! I would like to thank both of you again for taking time to get these pictures. I'll bet the scene down there is something else.
ya know steve, I just don't get it. Here's a guy who's born and raised in the Dominican Republic, and he loses the ball in the sun !!

Oh, man...
... I'd love to see the inside of the park for better pics of that part of this job.

Frankly, I think you can see the construction work better from the outside.

Just wondering...
I'm not a Cubs fan....nor do i live even close to Chicago. However, Wrigley is my favorite pallpark(after Ebberts field). So i jioned for this one reason: what are they doing to Wrigley Field?

The Wrigley Field bleachers...
... were demolished at the end of the 2005 season, and are being rebuilt and 1800 (approximately) seats are being added.

Check out the demolition/construction timeline on the right sidebar for a complete photo essay on this project.

Yes...
... I know this. I posted on this in the previous photo post last Friday.

I call them "bricks" because they are clearly meant to be seen as such. Yes, they are cinderblocks painted to look like bricks.

A little bit...
... of tuckpointing, that's all. There have been no major changes to the rest of the ballpark other than the bleachers.

Looking good...
...I wonder how many new seats in total will actually be added at Wrigley for 2006?

Bleachers look good, but empty.  Needs fans, soon - lots of 'em.  ;-)
