BCB Site Note
OK, we're all excited about the possibilities of the Cubs signing Kosuke Fukudome, or making deals involving Mark Prior, or acquiring pitching, or...
But I'd like to ask everyone a favor. Instead of racing to your keyboard every time you find an internet rumor (or fact) or hear something on sports talk radio... please search through BCB's recent posts, comments and diaries to see if your rumor or fact has already been posted.
What I don't want is for 15 different diaries on the Fukudome signing. Or Andruw Jones. Or something else we've discussed a week or two ago in detail -- you can set the number of diaries that appear to whatever you want (default is 10); that way you can see the most recent discussions.
What I also don't want is something that has disturbingly been starting to appear -- people criticizing each other for "monitoring", or things of that nature. This is my site and I have made a conscious decision to, at this time, not have an "official" assistant. However, I think if you're a regular here, you know who the more regular posters are. If someone like that asks politely for you to look at the other posts that have already been made about your topic, the polite thing to do is to thank them and move on -- not bitch about it.
So, bottom line:
- THINK before you post.
- LOOK around the site before you post; your diary idea might be better served as a comment in an existing thread.
Thanks.

As for this quote, "However, I think if you're a regular here, you know who the more regular posters are. If someone like that asks politely for you to look at the other posts that have already been made about your topic, the polite thing to do is to thank them and move on -- not bitch about it."
I'm guessing that a lot of the bitching comes from the fact that a lot of the people who "ask politely" oftentimes are snarky or sarcastic in the way they ask. (They may actually be asking politely, but having been a somewhat regular reader, and not necessarily poster, I know that a lot of these regular posters have a sarcastic side to them quite often in what they post.) I don't have a problem with this, and in fact also have a sarcastic side myself, however, email and blogs being what they are, it's often difficult to grasp if someone is being sarcastic or not.
My guess is the person who responds by bitching to someone who asks them to check other posts is assuming, rightly or wrongly, that the poster is being sarcastic and thus insulting them directly.
Just my two cents.
Excellent point about how everyone
I guess some of that can be attributed to wanting to be known as who has the most "insider" information, but all in all, its just immature egotism at play. (i.e. "me first")
Yeah
I rarely see who even posted unless it is Al on the home page. All I care about is the news.
