Eddie Vedder's Cubs Song

I am a big Pearl Jam fan, so I was pretty excited to run hear that Eddie Vedder debuted a song about the Cubs at the Vic on Thursday.  After listening to it I think we may be looking at a lasting anthem, or a theme song type gig.  It is really good; Vedder is a terrific songwriter, and here his focus in on Cubs fans, what the team means to them and what they mean to each other.

Here is the link to a YouTube video of the performance. http://youtube.com/watch?v=wdwu3A6z_jA

Vedder's songs are difficult enough to understand; a streaming video captured on a cell phone camera leaves a lot to be desired.  I posted below the lyrics I was able to work out below.  If you can decipher any more please add them in the comments.  But take a look at the lyrics - I think they are kind of cool.

Someday we WILL go all the way!

Vedder's (as far as I know untitled) Cubs Song

... it's just a game
But I've seen other teams and it's never the same
When you go to Chicago...
The first time you walk into Wrigley Field
Heroes in pinstripes, heroes in blue
Give us the chance to feel like you're old school
And whether we win and if we should lose
We know someday we'll go all the way
Hey, someday we'll go all the way

We are one with the Cubs, with the Cubs we're in love
We hold our heads tall as the underdogs
We are not fair-weather, but foul-weather fans
We are brother in arms in the streets and the stands
There's magic in the ivy and the old scoreboard
The same one I stared at as a kid keeping score
In a world full of green we could never want more
And someday we'll go all the way
Hey, someday we'll go all the way

Well here's to the men and the legends we've known
Deep in our... and deep in our souls
United we stand and united we'll fall
...???...
Ernie Banks said, oh "Let's play two!"
...???...
...Wrigley...
The hope of our joy and our fears

Deep in traditions and wishes...
The Place where our grandfathers followed Babe Ruth
A spiritual feeling if I ever knew
But when the day comes...
...???...
I'll look to the sky -- and know I was right!
`Cause someday we'll go all the way.
Yeah, someday we'll go all the way.

Awesome
It amazes me that Cub fans stretch across so many mediums from Bill Murry to Eddie Vedder.

Wow
Thank you so much for posting that.  I have a lot of emotions tonight.  I was out at the Del Mar horse races today and The Cult concert tonight here in San Diego.  I wore my DLee t-shirt and Cubs hat.  Let's see, I had people buy me two beers ($8/each), I had a guy give me his grandstand seats at a value of $10/each.  I had several man-hugs, ridiculous amounts of high-fives, and many, many "GO CUBS!" from far away places at various times of the day/night.  My wife and kid just kept shaking their heads all night.  It was very similar at the Padres/Giants night last night, when I wore my Sandberg t-shirt.

Then I come home and see this clip, with one of my very highest rock-idols Eddie Vedder, man just awesome.

Basically I just wanted to say that Cub fever is everywhere, even all the way out here on the West Coast.  The buzz is building.  GO CUBS!

Vedder.......
....might have, MIGHT have sung that song at the last Hundley fantasy camp. Apparently he sung some sort of Cubs song and this might have been it. He participated in the last one, and when Santo asked him the other day, he said he was going to be at the next one, as will I. I'll root around and see if I can find the link to another camper's blog that has pictures of Vedder in his Cub uniform chasing flies with everybody else. The camper said Vedder was just another guy on the team, another guy who just happened to be the singer for Pearl Jam.

Found It
http://blog.pokerwords.com/archive/2007_02_01_index.html

It's a bit slow to load. Scroll down some to get to his entry about Hundley's Camp, Part II. There are other links contained in his blog, such as to Ken Carl's site, which contained a few more pictures of Vedder and other, many cool shots of the camp.

Great Song & lyrics!: "Someday..."
Tremendous news as I coined the term "Someday..." to replace "Wait Till Next Year" (as I have written about previously on BCB)!

I am also working on a fictional book about the '69 Cubs winning the World Series, and chose "Someday..." as my title - very timely (pun intended) and a perfect fit for our current season as well.

I designed a "logo"/picture for the book cover to share on BCB, but unfortunately have it saved in a Word file; and am uncertain how to post the converted picture (.jpg) or Word saved picture on BCB.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Eddie Vedder's Song..
Yes, Eddie Vedder DID sing this song at the Randy Hundley Fantasy Camp in Mesa, Ariz. this past winter, as I was fortunate enough to attend. I knew very little about him or Pearl Jam, but had heard he was supposed to be at the camp.  He was very cool, polite, and a rather quiet guy.  He actually was on my team and played right field.  He batted last in our line up and I batted lead off, so it was easy for me to know who I followed. He sang this song on the last day of the camp.  It was pretty emotional and heartfelt as he didn't forget the lyrics, as he did on the youtube video, and the people listening weren't "whooping it up".  When he finished the song, he received a long standing ovation.  He then presented his acoustic guitar, clad with a Cubs sticker on it, to Randy Hundley.  A very nice moment to be a part of.  Let's hope he releases the song.

Awesome
I got goosebumps.

My favorite Eddie Vedder related song though before this was Weird Al's "My Baby's In Love with Eddie Vedder"

I just want the Cubs to top the Bears NFC Title Game as my highlight of the year.
