Cubs got new official sponsor, thanks to Dome

Hi, it's been some time to be here as I am spending most of my free time for Chunichi Dragons, Dome's former team, who are in the middle of spring training in my hometown Chatan, Okinawa.... but here is an easy, quick news for you folks.

Dome arrived to Arizona yesterday, after spending some days in LA. Reportedly he's already got out of jet lag and his condition is pretty good, as he said to Japanese media.

Also, Cubs got new big official sponsor from Japan, Nissay Life Insurance, for 4 year contract.

Star-divide

Nissay is the largest insurance company in Japan, and more than that, Dome was the part of its baseball team (non-professional - all players are employees) for 3 years, 1996-98, after graduated from PL Gakuen HS and declined to join Kintetsu Buffaloes, who drafted Dome in 1995, as he wanted to join either Dragons or Yomiuri Giants. Then Dome attended to 1996 Olympic Game in Atlanta and won silver medal, while he worked for Nissay.

Nissay will show up their logo for Cubs' press conference, Wrigley Field, and attend most of Cubs' official sponsor programs.
Nissay's spokesman said that it's good to see their former employee joined Cubs and plays in MLB.

Maybe Cubs can get another ones to pay well for better players...

Nissay is the first of many sponsors
The Cubs will get because of Dome.

From reading the papers here
my understanding was that Nissay was only sponsoring Fukudome and his press conferences, not all the Cubs Press conferences.

Here it is...

The interview-room backdrop has a new sponsor in State Farm Insurance. But when Fukudome meets with the Japanese media, the backdrop will change to a logo for Nippon Life Insurance Co. intermingled with the Cubs' logo.

Here's an article for you to translate...
From Nikkan Sports. The online translators say something about him arriving early, and there being a mountain of fan mail waiting for him.

Hope dragonsfanatic can give us a little more detail.

Re: Fan Letters
It just says he's got 20+ letters from Cubs fans when he ckecked in his locker for the first time.
He also said he just wanted to become a key contributor for whole Cubs' bandwagon.
