Glad to year from you Les
Since no one could reach you, azweber was taking all the heat.

If things are too overwhelming, please just send  them to one of us and we will be happy to distribute them.

18 days since being mailed.
Uh, there is no mail service option that can take 18 days to arrive.

No one has received a shirt yet, no matter where they live. 18 days!!??

It does not add up. Would love to see a tracking #, but don't believe I ever will.

What happens is every
2 weeks or so he will apologize and then have another buffer of about 2 weeks.

My guess is
a call to the number I provided would be helpful in motivating Chad today.  I believe him when he said he would take care of this but we can all use a little motivation!

I'm not sure what else to say except
I have to let Chad deal with this for today.

by Kinky Reggae on Mar 3, 2008 2:38 PM CST   0 recs

It is 7:10 pm, and I don't see him dealing with it
He will not answer the phone or return calls. He will not respond to e-mails.

He has not provided one tracking #, even though he was working on it "as we speak" last night.

Nothing has come in the mail, nothing has been returned in the mail to him, and no matter what state anyone lives in, no one has any mail to show for it.

I am not going to drag on with this for two more weeks.

If there is not some new information provided tonight, I willl demand my refund in the morning.

This is kind of annoying...
ultimately if it gets you to stop complaining on a regularly scheduled basis then I will send you your refund and if/when the shirts do arrive, then I will expect the shirt back.

Sory but you yourself have been a full time job for me on top of trying to keep tabs on Chad.

I am so sick of this whole thing.  And before you get mad at me for my response, keep in mind that for all your complaining, I have not only had to listen to it but arrange to order, receive, and get all MY shirts to the people who live here.

You go ahead and give me your address and I will get you a refund as soon as humanly possible.

Perhaps...
Chad could just drive the shirts to Baltimore's ST complex and give the shirts to Brian Roberts. I bet we could get Brian to ship them out. Heck, he may even autograph them for you guys.
As I've told you before, I never repeat myself.

This is
getting quite ridiculous. How much would it cost to reprint the lost shirts?

Louie
I will see what I can do about your since you designed them.  As for the rest, I wish I didn;t have to say this but I do not want to begin at the beginning.

Not sure what to say.  This is why I have been hoping with all my heart that Chad perhaps was not straight up about when they were shipped and that the shirts are on the way.

This whole thing sucks freakin ass.

I may just send you my shirt that turned out to be a little small on me anyway.  What size are you?

"His friend at USPS"?
Excuse me, but bull-freakin-shit. You mail something out, you get a tracking # when you send it. You don't have to "ask a friend at USPS".

I think another email is called for.

Also, exactly where in Florida does Chad live? If there's anyone who lives nearby and would offer to pay him a visit, I think that would be called for at this time.

Outstanding stuff
Al, you've endured plenty of hostility on this blog before (including a little bit from me).  Have you ever cursed on bcb before?

Why don't people just call Chad every 15 minutes or so.  And if he doesn't answer, figure out which office at Franklin Templeton he works at (assuming he was telling the truth about working there) and start calling there first thing in the morning.

Franklin Templeton offices in Florida:
Fort Lauderdale, Miami and St. Petersburg.  Chad live in any of those cities?

Another thing...
If he sent these thru USPS using one of their services that gets you a tracking number he spent extra money to ship. As this continues to unfold it is doubtful that he spent the extra money. Also, these services are usually faster than regular mail. I doubt it would take 18 days or whatever it is up to now... Too bad, a bunch of people had a good idea and one person ruins it.

by ams05g on Mar 4, 2008 12:37 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Actually....
Al, having lived within 30 minutes from Kewanee, 309-853-7414 is a Verizon land line, not a cell phone.  So, unless he is forwarding his land line to FL, he's still in IL.

by talkingcubs on Mar 4, 2008 2:50 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Actually
he could have ported his land line number to his cell phone. I did that when I moved from AL to TN so I could keep the same phone number that I had for over 20 years. You look up my cell numbers exchange and it says bellsouth landline....

by LT on Mar 4, 2008 3:50 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Wow Al!
I got your email.  I did speak to him and asked if perhaps he sent them later than he said he did.  He said he sent them mid week after that Friday.  He was the one who said it is still too long even for that date of shipment.

I will soon begin refunds Al.  Except for cubskingdom who wants one tomorrow.  I will take care of that end of things.  Sorry to have to but oh well.

At this point...
I just wish Les could, I dunno, be truthful about the whole thing. Back on Dec. 19th, Adam said that Les had confirmed the mailing had begun. Then on January 6th, Les said the shirts would be in the mail this coming week. The on Feb. 13th, the shirts would definitely be out by the 15th (also personally confirmed by Les on the 14th). Now twice within the past few days, Les has said the shirts were mailed, but he has to work to get the tracking numbers?

Come on, something just doesn't add up here. The slowest USPS service is I believe parcel post, which takes about 7 days.

If the shirts were destroyed in a fire, eaten by a dog, used as wall insulation, well, we'd be upset, but I'd rather have the truth than to have no closure and the continued stringing along that we have now. It has now been almost 3 months after the shirts were supposedly going out.

by anvilcrawler on Mar 3, 2008 8:06 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

I agree Al
I appreciate you helping me a bit.

I am prepared to issue refunds though.  I wish it could be the shirts (and maybe it will be someday since it will never make sense to me why someone would do this).  I can say that I too have been pretty upset as of late.

azweber9, it does not have to be done tomorrow
I can wait until you and Al pick a date when the 20 or so "out-of-towners" are deemed "lost" shirts.

As others have posted, I am just at the end of my rope and do not want to encourage, days of Les, asking his friend at USPS or whatever. I have no problem with you, or how you have handled things thus far.

Les answers none of the e mails or voice mails I have sent him. He never picks up the phone no matter what time I call, and his stories just don't add up at all.

If he had one tracking #, he could check the status on line in about 30 seconds, not a friend at USPS will have some news for me in the morning.

Just needed to mark a day that I would not listen to any more stories. That day for me will be tomorrow.

I attended the "Chasing October" Project 3000  fundraiser screening in AZ. last Spring Training, bought a dozen Project 3000 bracelets at The Cubs Convention.

Thought the shirts would be a great gesture as well. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth with Les's actions.

I can certainly appreciate this comment.
Please know I am as, if not more angry about the possibility of having been ripped off for 20 or so shirts.

I suppose, after talking with Chad tonight, that I will be comfortable in giving this until Friday and then I will begin to get MO's to send back.  As I told Al, I still have the whole list of addresses for thr OOT shirts.  Hopefully it won't take but a couple days from then, for me to have them and mail them.  Whatever is left I will donate.

I am TRULY sorry we trusted Chad and it may have come to this, but I promise to begin that immediately if Friday doesn't see any shirts.

For Louie, I would like to get him one somehow since he designed them and has waited this long too.

Is this an acceptable plan?

MMMMM...Nutrisystem!

by Kinky Reggae on Mar 3, 2008 9:05 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

I'd like my shirt but if I can't have that
you can donate my share to P3K.

I wish there was something that could be done.  Is there some way to get authorities involved?  Is there an anti-fraud something or another in Florida that can be contacted.  What about FBI?  Fraud across interstate lines is a biggie.  Maybe with just the threat of it or having a cop stop by and question him would be enough to get the shirts sent out.   Have him ship them all to me and I can have them in the mail less than 48 after I get them.

But why?????
What would you do with 20 shirts with a(n albeit cool) logo and the name of a blog, and no money. I think the thing that most people don't get is that he doesn't have any of the money and never has. So whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy (maybe if I type the letter "y" enough, I will get a suitable answer)?
Did he just say funky butt-loving?

by Louie on Mar 3, 2008 8:58 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

if we are asking why
why would anyone have a bunch of tshirts made, presumably in chicago, then ship some of the shirts to some guy in florida to then have that guy ship them out all over the country?

why would the guy in florida agree to front the money for shipping the shirts in the first place?

why does it seem that azweber9 is the only person that can ever get a hold of chad (aka les)?  has anyone actually talked to chad on the phone during this whole ordeal?

if you look through the countless threads on this there are a lot of questions and not a lot of answers, or at least, not a lot that make sense.

lets hope that there is a happy ending in here somewhere.

The answer to your questions
is that we tried to do something good.  I didn't want to shoulder the entire job myself, someone stepped up to volunteer, it was a person whom we thought we could trust, and apparently, we were wrong.

IIRC, there weren't that many people stepping up to take on some of this project.

This is why I chose to do the things that I have thus far.

MMMMM...Nutrisystem!

by Kinky Reggae on Mar 3, 2008 9:45 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

azweber, that's not really fair or true
i remember a lot of people volunteering various assistance at various times throughout this debacle.  regardless, the whole BCB shirt venture was screwed from jump when you guys were "taking orders" by having people type how many shirts they wanted as a semi-anonymous comment to a diary.

orders shoulda been taken, and shipment arranged for, online.  this is a blog for chrissakes; and it's the year 2008.

all that said, the entertainment provided by all these diaries and comments has been well worth $25.

I'm the guy in the blue under armour shirt

by joeschmitt on Mar 4, 2008 2:38 AM CST to parent up   0 recs

If by volunteering you mean
offering critical comments and unnecessary input then yes, MANY people stepped up.

Advice was not really what I needed, I was not prepared to take on this entire project myself and Chad stepped up and volunteered to take on the biggest part, in my opinion, which was the OOT shipping.

So I do believe it is fair to state that I went with a person who felt he could shoulder this part of the project.

I'm sorry you don't like the way it was done.  Too bad you didn't volunteer to take this project on.  I do not do this for a living and approached this the way I saw fit.  We sorted out the orders, we got the money done, and I completed every part of this project that I took on as quickly as I could.  I was patient with the money and ALL of the criticism.  Just an FYI, over 300 shirts were "spoken for" in our first diary to assess how many people wanted shirts and we ended up with 60 shirts.

So, I believe I have endured more than MY share of criticism and perhaps you can understand why now, I am starting to get frustrated with all of this.

I know you all spent your money, so did I.  I want to get this figured out because of this and I am trying to do this as quickly as possible.

MMMMM...Nutrisystem!

Unbelievable
. . . .that people now view Adam as fair game for criticism when he has only been trying to make sure that the people who ordered shirts get them.  I am hugely grateful for all your work and am amazed at how much attention you have paid to this mess.

I ordered 3 shirts, one each for myself, my sister and my brother-in-law.  Of course, what we really want is to finally see our BCB shirts, but if that doesn't happen don't worry about sending our refund -- just add the money to whatever is going to Project 3000.

Thanks, Adam.

by bjs on Mar 4, 2008 8:28 AM CST to parent up   0 recs

Thank you Barb
I know I am just repeating myself but I just want you all to get the shirts.  However, I do not want to keep money that paid for nothing either.

Maybe what I will do is send the money back to everyone, donate the little from the shirts that I got to people, and then Al can set up a donation process where you all can donate.

It only seems fair that I send the money back.

You are nice to say what you said Barb.

Too bad you didn't volunteer to take this project on.

Actually, I did, in an email to you dated October 10, 2007.  I did not think it contained "critical comments" or "unnecessary input".  And a lot of other people were volunteering to help or even take over the process to bring it into the 21st century.

I appreciate your efforts but the martyr thing doesn't fly here.

You're not worth responding to...
with your LATE offers to assist with all of this, once you decided you didn't like my approach to everything.

Point is, you were NOWHERE to be found when the project initially got started.

So you know what you can do with you martyr comments don't you?

For people like you, who I DO in fact remember trying to be helpful (after the fact) I am not as concerned about your inconvenience.  Sorry if you think I am playing a martyr...

I saw myself as soing everything I could possibly do to help resolve this matter.  Save me your "helpful" insight.

just to clarify
you thought you could trust "chad" (aka les) enough to ship him around 20 shirts, which have a "value" of $25 each, and that he would front the money to ship the shirts and then you would pay him back because you didn't trust him to handle any of the money.

that's interesting

by circuitclout on Mar 4, 2008 7:49 AM CST to parent up   0 recs

Yes 20 shirts, that did not cost 25$
20 shirts that cost less that that and I never forgot the fact that I did not know Chad.

Would you have sent him the money?

Why is this so confusing.  I couldn't have him ship shirts he did not have.  He agreed to ship out and then collect the money (when he presented a receipt nonetheless).

Look, I did this as organized as I could and this is what we got.  I am glad I kept the money so I can now gove you refunds if the shirts don't come.  It sucks but what could I have done differently?  For the record, Al trusted him too.  Does this make my mistake any more understandable?

MMMMM...Nutrisystem!

by Kinky Reggae on Mar 4, 2008 8:14 AM CST to parent up   0 recs

It does seem odd
that the shirts would be shipped first to Florida, only to have to be shipped again. Why would anyone set up a  system where you have to pay for two shipping costs-if that in fact was the arrangement

And why would anyone (Les) agree to front the charges for shipping all those shirts with the hope of getting paid back by someone he doesn't know (a9)?

Something smells.....and it certainly appears to this outside observer (I sporadically come to this website) that azweber9 is not entirely the victim he paints himself as.

Hey outside observer
if this doesn't concern you, why not go observe elsewhere. Unless you are impatiently waiting for awesome shirts arrive, you don't add anything to this diary. I don't find any reason to doubt the integrity of azweb. If the OOT shirts don't work out, that makes him just as much a victim of this whole fiasco as the rest of us. And will actually make extra work for him if he does have to issue refunds. I don't wish that on him.

At the very least it calls into serious question a9's judgement. I know I sure wouldn't trust him to make any important decisions or delegate any important tasks to.

Hey thanks for your support.
Good thing your opinion is of no importance here.

Don't have an answer to "why"...
...so I got to thinking about what could Chad do with 20 BCB shirts.
  • Obviously he could wear them - have a nice little (almost) 3 week rotation going there.  Would certainly cut down on the laundry loads.
  • Could be he's a little league coach and Chico's Bail Bonds backed out at the last minute as a uniform sponsor.
  • Maybe Barry Bonds caught wind of this, saw the Project 3000 connection and figured it was all about him (isn't it always?) and his quest for 3000 hits so he made an offer that Chad couldn't refuse.
  • Here's one for the conspiracy theorists out there...  maybe Chad is really Chris Young in disguise and he's getting back at Derrek for last season's fight.
Well, whatever he ends up doing with them, it doesn't look like he's reselling them on eBay.  I did a search on "BCB" and came up with nothing resembling shirts.  However, I did get a lot of hits on items like this...

Well....
I haven't received a tracking number or anything.  If you all wouldn't mind, I could take over the discharge duties, though I would need enough funds up front from AZWeber to post the items priority mail.  Tracking numbers are no big deal--you get them if you're intelligent enough to ask for them--and alas, pay for them.

A t-shirt!  A t-shirt!  My kingdom for my two t-shirts!

My email is alexandrinapvalenya@yahoo.com for my tracking number, just to make it easier, you know.
