Via Pete Abraham at Extra Bases: Lefthanded reliever Rich Hill, who left yesterday's game clutching his arm, has a serious injury according to a major league source and is likely to require season-ending surgery.

This Is A Great Suggestion

Mellinger is on the right track here. I concur with his observation that McClure might be the guy to help. I mean, this is the kind of stuff Dave Duncan and the Cards take advantage of. Normally the Cubs take advantage with Rothschild being their pitching guru. But one man's guru is another man's bad fit. What's the downside for KC? - TL

Cubs Clearinghouse: Rich Hill

This is a pretty fair article from Fangraphs' Marc Hulet describing the predicament the Cubs are in with out of options guys Rich Hill and Ronny Cedeno. Today they tackle Hill and tomorrow they're discussing Cedeno. This article on Rich Hill today is just a reminder of how sweet our team would be if the 2007 Hill showed up to Spring Training. QUOTE FROM THE ARTICLE: "Unfortunately for the Cubs, both players are also out of minor league options, which means the club has three options: 1) Keep them on the 25-man roster; 2) Trade them for other talent; 3) Expose them to waivers in an attempt to send them down to the minors. If the club chooses the third option, each player would definitely end up in other organizations with zero compensation, which really leaves the club with two options: Play or trade."

Reversal

Quite a number of things got reversed in today's 3-2 Cub win over the Pirates, not the least of which was the weather; predictions of possible rain rumbled by early this morning, but the only...

Good News - Bad News Friday

Good news: the sun came out today right about game time. Bad news: The Cubs lost to the Astros 4-3, and it easily could have gone the other way. I'm going to do the entire rest of this recap...

You Doesn't Has To Call Me Johnson

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- There have, before the 2008 season, been eleven men surnamed "Johnson" who have played for the Cubs. In fact, you've probably seen most of them play, as only four -- Abe...

Open Thread: Cubs vs. Giants, Tuesday 3/25, 3:05 CT

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- The Giants have the worst record in all of baseball this spring -- 8-19. While spring records are not necessarily predictors of regular season records, for the Giants, I...
