If your cable package of choice offers Bloomberg TV, tune in tonight (or set your DVR) for a special edition of "Sportfolio" featuring Theo Epstein and Tom Ricketts. And if you can't access said channel or just don't want to bother, click on the link above for a preview, video clip and some selected quotes from the interview.
Rosenbloom suggesting that perhaps another Ricketts should be calling the shots for the Cubs. Frankly, I think he comes off as a little harsh on Tom.
This feels a bit more like a pattern and less like bad luck. So Al's not backing Hendry anymore; does just leave the Ricketts in his corner?
OK, so this is my own piece -- I wanted to write a longer form piece for SB Nation Chicago about this topic. So have at it. My basic point is that if it's not Girardi (and I doubt he's available), it should be Ryne Sandberg. Time to bring this job back into the Cubs family. Hope you will take the time to read the whole piece.
Lots of good stuff here; I especially like this quote: "I think that it's a long season, and you can't overreact to any one game or any one road trip," Ricketts said. "I think the biggest difference is that now that we kind of know some of the players personally, it's harder when you see them struggle or have something go wrong, you just know how hard they're trying, and you know badly they want to win. It just adds kind of a personal twist on something like that."
...and "cursed" players can hit the road. Hear that, Milt????!
This is considered expediting the process so the sale can be completed.
A very good take from George Castle of the NW Indiana Times.
I sure hope this gets resolved soon!
Today's Tribune has an update on the sale. It won't be finished by the May 20-21 owners meetings, and there's no timetable to finish it.
