I HOPE Ron Turner is joking!

When asked if he would want Brett Favre on the Bears offense, he stated:

‘‘Not right now,’’ offensive coordinator Ron Turner said today when asked if he could envision the future first-ballot Hall of Famer in a Bears’ uniform this season. ‘‘Not with what we have. I like our quarterbacks. That’s not to say he’s not a great player, he’s one of the greatest players of all time. I love him. I love watching him. He’s a great player.

‘‘Not at this time and in this situation. We’ve got two good quarterbacks.’’

Um...So either he is joking and not wanting to release any information or he is completely CRAZY. He'd honestly pick Grossman and Orton over Favre? It amazes me that this guy still has a job.

Chad Fox up, Hart down

The feel good story of the winter just got even better.

The Chicago Cubs today selected right-handed pitcher Chad Fox from Double-A Tennessee. To make room for Fox on the 25-man roster, right-hander Kevin Hart was optioned to Triple-A Iowa. In a separate move, the Cubs outrighted right-hander Juan Mateo to Single-A Daytona.

Fox will wear uniform No. 44 and be available for tonight's game in St. Louis. Chicago's 40-man roster is at 38 players.

Hopefully he won't be a bust and be able to contribute. Looks also like Mateo is pretty much done as a MLB player. Hart will be up soon, IMO.

Cubs @ Washington Series

Well its about that time of year that I make my annual trek up to Washington DC to see the Cubs take on the Nationals. Since there is a new park and everything, I was wondering if anyone has been to it and where are the best places to get food, do stuff, etc. My seats should be pretty good since they are in the third tier front row and I should get a good look at the Capitol Building.

Oh and of course, holler if you will be there a s well!

New Lineup created by Lou

The lineup goes as:

Theriot SS
Soriano LF
Lee 1b
Ramirez 3b
Fukudome RF

then I think the rest will be:

DeRosa 2b
Soto C
Pie CF

I really do not understand what Lou is trying to accomplish here by putting Soriano 2b. Theriot really isn't that great of a leadoff hitter. This is going to be used on Friday. I don't really feel like bringing him up, but are they using this to see out the lineup would be if Brian Roberts was leading off?

Zambrano announced Opening Day Starter

http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080214&content_id=2373336&vkey=spt2008new s&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc

Well lets hope things change since last year (or the year before that, and the year before that). Looks like he has also gotten in shape and lost a few pounds (seven that is). Apparently he has been working at first base to help out his legs. He seriously wants to get better and have one of his best seasons. Hopefully his track record of opening day starts will be a little better this year....

Wuertz agrees to contract, avoids arbitration

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs and right-handed pitcher Michael Wuertz have agreed to terms on a one-year contract for the 2008 campaign, thus avoiding salary arbitration. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wuertz is very underrated in my opinion. He has been a solid and reliable reliever for the past three seasons and could be a potential set-up man.

Zell: Cubs to be sold before season

http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071220&content_id=2334894&vkey=news_chc&a mp;fext=.jsp&c_id=chc

basically this is information we already know, except for the sold before opening day stuff. I for one, do not want Wrigley's name rights to be sold. Next you will see tons of ads at the ballpark and a name like Google Field! I hate commercialization..

Cubs Make Three Roster Moves

http://netsports.baseball.com/default.asp?c=baseball&page=mlb/news/AAN4110843.htm

Basically says:

Ward's option picked up
Floyd's option declined, resulting in him being a free agent
Trashchel's option declined, resulting him him being a free agent

As expected pretty much. Only two more free agents that the Cubs have yet to resigned///let go: Kendall and Wood.

Chalk up another Washed up Cub going to Baltimore

http://netsports.baseball.com/default.asp?c=baseball&page=mlb/news/AAN4107968.htm

Wow, you would think that the Orioles have taken enough garbage off of our hands. This makes me really happy, and this means that all of Dusty's "favorites" are now gone. Coincidence? This proves that Dusty has no idea how to manage a team.
