I met Billy Williams outside the ballpark before Wednesday night's game. Really nice guy.

Geo Soto launches a homer at Busch Stadium on July 6th. This one was a while back, but we'll call it a celebration of Geo's Cub rookie catcher record.

Score Reporting Craig Monroe Deal

George Offman is reporting that the Cubs have a deal in place.  Craig Monroe to the Twins for a player to be named.

This very well may be the "Who cares of the month" award winning story, but then again...

Let the speculation begin that this is setting the stage for more dealings with Minnesota.

Let the "who's the ptbnl" guessing game commence as well.

Baseball Travels

I know a lot of baseball fans like to use their summer vacations to hit the road with their favorite team.  Me, for one, I like to follow the Cubbies for at least a few series each summer.

I like to take my baseball travels a step further though, trying to hit the minor league parks I travel past, as well as any other baseball related sidetrips I can find.

With Al's recent talk about his visits to some great baseball themed attractions, I was wondering if anyone else had found some hiddden gems, either where they live or while on the road, or anyplace you've alway wanted to get to.  My list isn't as extensive as I'd like it to be (see below), so I'm looking for some tips while I use the winter months to plan next season's adventures.

If I were the commish

There seems to be a great deal of anger/irritation/looks of death aimed at Commisioner Bud Selig these days (actually almost all days), so I thought I'd ask what it is that you'd do differently if you were the Grand Poobah of MLB.

Radio/TV Broadcasts Synced?

I don't think anyone beat me to this.  I just heard talk on WGN Radio that there is going to be an attempt to sync up the radio broadcast with the TBS broadcast.

It was said that the sync won't be perfect since there are several TBS feeds (cable, sattelite, HD), but everyone should be within a second or so.  Good news for anyone that just can't take another night of Dick Stockton.

To Go or Not To Go

I can't make it to Friday or Saturday's games due to uncancellable commitments, however, I have tickets and arrangements made for Sunday.  I really hope it doesn't come down to it; I hope it's over tonight.  However, I have a decision to make and need a hand.

If the Cubbies have clinched already - should I head out to Cincy for Sunday?

Con - long drive if the game is meaningless
Con - let down of missing "the" moment?
Con - that's a lot of gas money

Pro - still get to see the Cubs
Pro - baseball roadtrip with my dad, which I've always wanted to do
Pro - if they've already clinched, there's still bound to be a great atmosphere, tons of Cub fans, and good times
Pro - it's better than anything else I have to do on Sunday

Poll
So, If Sunday's Game is Meaningless, Should I Make the Trip Anyway?
Don't bother. What's the point?

You gotta go anyway.
