Next Season's Catcher

As if the Barrett situation hasn't been discussed to death yet. You have to assume that Barrett gets traded this summer or he walks this offseason. So who replaces him?

It appears the Koyie Hill and Henry Blanco aren't full-timers. Next year's free agents are Posada, Pudge, Lo Duca, and Kendall.

Posada will probably finish his career as a Yankee, and Pudge has an option that Detroit would likely exercise.

That leaves us with Lo Duca and Kendall. Or, we could trade for someone. I would love to get Salty from Atlanta, but he will not come cheap.

Baseball in Vegas

It was really a great night for baseball. Most of the fans attending the game tonight were Cub fans, of course. That's usually the way it is for all the baseball games in Vegas. You could really see on everyone's faces tonight how excited they were to be at a Major League game.

The offense was really rolling tonight. I loved watching it first-hand. It was nice to see the Cubs manufacture a run in the 1st inning. Of course after that we had the home runs by Barrett and Ramirez and Lee's triple.

I had some great seats tonight. They were 2nd row down the first base line, right behind where the pitchers were warming up.

Will Ohman was hilarious. He was chatting it up with all the fans in the area, especially all the kids. He asked one kid if he was a Cubs fan and the boy shrugged his shoulders. Will looked stunned at the response. Will said, "If I give you this bat, will you be a Cubs fan?" The little boy couldn't believe it. His Dad shouted, "Say yes!" The little boy grabbed the bat and ran to his Dad and yelled "Thanks Will!" I didn't really know much about Ohman before tonight, but I was really impressed with his attitude and kindness to the fans.
