Over at The Chicago National League Ballclub, "Maddog", the blogger, has his proposed 2006 25-man roster.
Some of the acquisitions he suggests -- Lofton, Furcal -- I wholeheartedly agree with. Others -- A. J. Burnett -- I'd steer clear of. Still others -- Sing and McGehee in particular -- I simply think are not ready for the majors.
But the idea of acquiring Mackowiak intrigues me. He's not a great player, but the Pirates have been trying to use him as an everyday player. Off the bench, as a left-handed bat, as someone who has a bit of power and can play several positions, I think he'd be quite useful. He's also a Chicago-area native.
Thoughts?
