Many of you post diaries here and I'm really gratified for the wide scope and intelligent content thereof.
There is ... one ... small ... problem.
Some of you have copied and pasted the text of articles from elsewhere on the Internet into your diaries without attribution, or without a link, and without any of your own text.
This is... well, how do I say this? Wrong. It could be construed as a copyright violation, and I know that's not any of your intent.
In the future, if you want to post a diary because of an article you read elsewhere, the best way to do it is to write a sentence of your own, then give a link to the article, sort of like this (example only, I know this has nothing to do with the Cubs, it's just a current article):
Hey, the Dodgers are stupid, they just signed Brett Tomko to a two-year deal!
I know, I know, you're thinking the 300-character minimum. Fill it with a line or two of filler if you must. You could even copy a line or two of the article, as long as you give attribution:
December 22, 2005
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Brett Tomko became the third former San Francisco player to switch to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
If you don't know how to do links or blockquotes like the ones here, email me, I'll send you a short tutorial.
But please, no more copy/pastes of full articles. Thanks.
