If You'll Indulge...

I received the following e-mail from Chris Sauer, a BCB reader who's also a Reds fan:

First and foremost, I'd like to say that I enjoy your site. Although not a Cubbies guy myself, I use it as a good jumping off point to other team pages and I must say that yours is one of the better ones out there.

As mentioned, I follow another team (I'm an Ohio guy who grew up in the 70's and thusly BleedCincyRed), but I am very curious about Cubs fans.

Now don't jump down my throat here, this is a legitimate inquiry. The whole Bartman thing, now that we are removed from it a little bit. Does it still eat away? Or rather, is there a part of Cub-fan that says that fans will go for balls when they are hit in their area? Or even, that there was still another chance to win the next game and we didn't? Or lastly, we love 'em, but they are the lovable losers?

Again, I emphasize that this is not rubbing salt in a wound. I as a lifelong baseball fan, ex-player, and ex-high school coach, I love it all, and need to know things like this.

Now, this may seem silly, or wallowing in the past, but it does raise an interesting question. Do all of you blame Bartman for the 2003 NLCS collapse? Do you even think about that incident any more?

So, I've created a poll to vote on this. Take it in the spirit in which it's created.
