Open Thread: Cubs vs. Pirates, Wednesday 5/18

Today's game thread is up early because... well, because the game is early, while it is still morning here in Chicago.

Kip Wells is yet another pitcher who the Cubs ought to eat alive -- 28 walks and seven homers allowed in 49 innings. They have already defeated him once this season.

The weather in Pittsburgh is supposed to be gorgeous today -- 70 degrees, sunny with light winds. It'd be nice to have a blowout, for once.

Quote from new Cub Enrique Wilson:

It's nice for me to try and come in and help somebody. Because I played for the Yankees and they know I've got a lot of experience, hopefully it will work out.
He's delusional. Help can come in the same form it did last night -- by having him stay on the bench and cheer on his teammates.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

UPDATE [2005-5-18 10:35:36 by Al]: Good news: Wilson's not starting. Bad news: Macias is (Aramis isn't).
