On paper, this is an enormous mismatch. Carpenter's leading the majors in wins and winning percentage, is second in ERA, has won eight in a row and has had exactly one really poor start this year -- giving up eight earned runs in 3.1 IP to the Phillies on April 10.
Meanwhile, Williams has been up and down, and lately, more down than up.
