Open Thread: Cubs vs. Rockies, Saturday 8/20

Look at the photo of Rockies starter Aaron Cook. Does he look happy? Sure doesn't seem so. What could have been going through his mind at the time that was taken? And they must take more than one of these, when they take these PR shots. Why would you choose that one?

At least Glendon Rusch has a smile on his face, even if it is sort of a goofy one.

Cook has faced the Cubs only once -- a two-inning relief appearance in 2002. Among current Cubs, he has faced Neifi! (2-for-6) and Nomar (2-for-3) the most, so there's very little to go on. Cook's a righthander, so, unfortunately, the impossible Corey Patterson will play again today. Jerry Hairston will likely get the start on Sunday vs. lefty Jeff Francis.

Rusch's lifetime numbers against the Rockies are pretty mediocre -- 2-3 in seven games (five starts) with a 5.00 ERA; he did have a seven-inning, one-run victory against them on May 28 at Wrigley Field.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
