Open Thread: Cubs vs. Marlins, Friday 8/26

Much has been made of the fact that the current Cub roster contains only four players -- Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Carlos Zambrano and Aramis Ramirez -- who were on the 2003 postseason roster.

Maybe there's something to this. The current Marlins roster contains ten players who were on their 2003 postseason roster: Josh Beckett, Miguel Cabrera, Jeff Conine, Juan Encarnacion (though he left and returned), Dontrelle Willis, Luis Castillo, Juan Pierre, Mike Lowell, Alex Gonzalez and Lenny Harris.

Heck, this year's Cub Opening Day roster had three of those champion Marlins -- Derrek Lee, Todd Hollandsworth and Chad Fox.

5-6 W-L 4-1
4.21 ERA 2.43
87 SO 33
43 BB 16
10 HR 0

I hate matchups like this. Here's yet another rookie pitcher that the Cubs have never seen, with a good ERA and good BB/K ratio, and in 37 major league innings, he has yet to allow a home run.

We're doomed.

(Trying reverse psychology again! And get a load of that picture of Jason Vargas. What's with that hair?)

Discuss amongst yourselves.
