That "ugh" has nothing to do with the Cubs, but with the fact that I heard horrid scraping noises driving today, and I suspect I need new brakes on my car. Oh, well. And I won't have time to fix them till Friday, probably.
Now, on to more important things, such as winning tonight's game.

And here's the scoop on Jody Gerut. Jody was shocked to hear of the trade, and as I told you, he had been told the Cubs were committed to him for this year and next -- that "two-year" commitment turned into two weeks.
Ballplayers may make a lot of money, but they do have lives. Jody had just leased an apartment in Wrigleyville and was about to move in -- now he has to pack everything up and move it to Pittsburgh. It may seem "glamorous", but you still have to have a place to hang your hat every night. I imagine living in hotels can get old after a while.
I do wish him luck -- from everything Dave, Brian, Jake and Kevin tell me about him, he seems like an intelligent, thoughtful guy, and I'd like to see him fully recover from his injury, and do well -- except when he faces the Cubs.
