Open Thread: Cubs vs. Reds, Tuesday 9/13

Tonight's game features one of the larger pitching mismatches of the season.

This worries the heck out of me.

Today's Starting Pitchers
Carlos Zambrano
C. Zambrano
Cubs
vs. Eric Milton
E. Milton
Reds
13-5 W-L 7-14
3.18 ERA 6.63
180 SO 111
78 BB 47
15 HR 39

Even worse, Z is 5-0 with a 2.80 ERA in his last six starts, and 5-3, 2.14 in his career against the Reds.

And worse than that, Milton's lifetime ERA against the Cubs is even higher than his season ERA this year -- a Ruthian 7.14 -- and that includes the near no-hitter he threw last year. Twelve Cub homers in 40 career innings, and if he allows one more he'll accomplish the anti-feat of allowing forty homers in a season for the second straight year. If he allows TWO more, he'll be tied for ninth place on the all-time HR allowed list, and with four more allowed, he'd be tied for sixth.

With himself.

We are surely doomed.

Discus amongst yourselves.
