Open Thread: Cubs vs. Cardinals, Saturday 9/17

It's real simple.

Three Maddux starts left. Three wins needed for an eighteenth straight 15-win season.

And no, Dusty Baker won't adjust the rotation for him to squeeze in another start. Not because Dusty doesn't like Greg, but because that's not the way Greg would want to do it.

Today's Starting Pitchers
Greg Maddux
G. Maddux
Cubs
vs. Mark Mulder
M. Mulder
Cardinals
12-12 W-L 15-7
4.22 ERA 3.51
121 SO 102
33 BB 60
26 HR 16

Maddux threw a CG win against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field last month, and with four more innings he'll have a seventeenth 200-inning season. (Maddux missed 200 IP in 2002 by 2/3 of an inning, or it could have been 19 straight years.)

Mulder was the losing pitcher in the above-mentioned game, and Maddux beat him a second time 2-1 on September 7 in St. Louis, even though Mulder threw a CG himself.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
