Open Thread: Cubs vs. Brewers, Tuesday 9/20

The Cubs open their final trip to Milwaukee this year, tonight. It'll be interesting to see what the announced attendance is, and the actual count in the house -- many tickets for these games were likely sold early in the year when these games might have appeared to mean something.

Note: this game begins at 6:35 pm CT, not 7:05 as most Brewer home night games.

Today's Starting Pitchers
Jerome Williams
J. Williams
Cubs
vs. Doug Davis
D. Davis
Brewers
5-8 W-L 10-10
4.30 ERA 3.95
60 SO 183
39 BB 88
12 HR 24

This will likely be Williams' last start of the year, as he will probably be the one skipped so that Greg Maddux (who throws on Thursday) will have a shot at 15 wins this year. Williams has now had three very good starts in a row, which have resulted in a win, a loss and a no-decision.

Thank heavens Davis won his September 9 start against the Astros, because otherwise we'd be hearing ad nauseum about his last previous win, June 22 vs. the Cubs. He is 3-4 lifetime vs. the Cubs but with a good 2.92 ERA. Time to beat the living daylights out of him.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
