Off-Season Work At Wrigley Field

While we wait for the ballclub to be freshened up with new faces, they're busy painting the scoreboard, which had begun to look faded in the last couple of years.

In 1987, the scoreboard was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. It looked terrible -- faded and washed-out; at that time it probably hadn't been painted since it had been rebuilt for the 12-team leagues in 1969. Not long after that photo came out, it was repainted.

This has been done every few years since then. I drove by the park this afternoon and took these photos to share with you. Note, they haven't quite finished, plus they left up the team panels and matchups from the last day of the season.
