I suppose I should congratulate the Cardinals for winning the World Series, but it's hard to do that for several reasons, not the least of which is that the 2006 WS had to be the worst World Series ever, with horrid play and horrid weather marking a dull, one-sided series. The WS has now gone three years in a row without going past game five.
Time to put 2006 behind us -- it wasn't very enjoyable for Cubs fans anyway -- and look forward to 2007, which HAS to be better, right?
Enough of that. Let's have some fun, shall we?
Most of you know that a tradition among major league teams is to "haze" the rookies on the club by confiscating their clothes one random day on the road, and making them fly back home wearing some sort of outlandish costume.
Pat Neshek was a rookie relief pitcher for the Minnesota Twins in 2006. If you'd like to buy his rookie hazing costume, he's currently auctioning it on eBay, with all proceeds to Pets In Distress, Inc., a Florida organization dedicated to rescuing pets.
Fun, and for a good cause.
