Matsuzaka Update

There's now a deadline for Matsuzaka bids -- 4 pm CST on Wednesday.

After that:

After the bidding has closed, the Lions will be told of the highest offer, without being informed of which team made it. The Lions have until Nov. 14 to accept.

So, after that we'll know who, if anyone, gets his rights, and then that team will have 30 days to make a deal with him.

The Dodgers, Giants, Mariners, Orioles and Angels have already publicly announced they won't pursue him, leaving, according to Rotowire:

... (in no particular order) the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Cubs, Red Sox and Rangers as serious bidders for Matsuzaka, as well as perhaps one or two other clubs.
