A big thank you to the Cubs and Reds for repeating this pitching matchup from last Wednesday. Made it lots easier for me to make today's pitching chart!

Most of you already know that Derrek Lee will now be a Cub through 2010, after signing a five-year, $65 million contract. It should be noted that this is essentially a four-year contract extension, because the first year replaces this year's deal, giving him about a $3.5 million raise for 2006. Good! If you worry about what he'll be like in 2010, he won't turn 35 till September of that year, and given the way he works at the game, I'd expect him to still be a productive player then.

Many of you may have heard about the civil trial involving a botched autograph session at a Naperville store with Mark Prior, two years ago. Here's what I wrote about it at the time:

I spoke to someone today who was actually there. As do some of these sessions, they turned into much more than autographs, many people trying to be selfish and get extra time, photographs, etc. with Prior, and he got frustrated. Honestly, this session should have been rescheduled, due to the start today, and his agent and the store should have worked this out. But I have seen many major league players try to accomodate autograph-seekers, both at sessions like this and at the ballpark, and frequently rude and selfish people try to take advantage. In those cases I truly can't blame the player for wanting to cut the session short.
