Well, let's see. We have one pitcher who's thrown nine innings and given up six home runs, all to the Reds (and should probably not have that you-know-what-eating-grin on his face as a result).
The other one has thrown ten innings and given up twenty (!) hits, including three home runs. Oddly, though one of the games Snell started was vs. the Reds, NONE of the HR he's given up were to the Reds -- all three were hit by the Dodgers.
So the score today ought to be about 16-15, right?
You know it never works out that way. Snell has never started a game against the Cubs, but has allowed them only one run in eight relief innings. Rusch is 1-7 lifetime against the Pirates with a 4.55 ERA.
It's not "must-win" at this time of year, but geez, if the Cubs lose 2 of 3 to these guys, that does not bode well.
Also, records show that the Cubs' record is 4-2 with Todd Walker starting at 2B, 1-0 with Neifi Perez, and 1-2 with Jerry Hairston. Draw your own conclusions. In addition to today, all three probables in the Dodger series are right-handed; I imagine Neifi might start tomorrow with Greg Maddux pitching.
