Open Thread: Cubs vs. Cardinals, Saturday 4/8

New, 97 comments

Dream with me, everyone. Wouldn't it be nice to beat a 21-game winner and win the series today?

More sun today, less wind. We're going to be checking out the left field corner in the New Bleachers.

This is the sort of game that if it were being played in June, would be carried on Fox, and many of you would be upset because it wasn't carried in your area. Today is cable-only (CSN Chicago, FSN Midwest), but is available on Extra Innings.

The bleacher reconstruction timeline on the right sidebar has now been updated through yesterday, and is complete from the beginnings last October, through Opening Day. I'm going to leave that there permanently, so you can check it out anytime. One more note about the bleachers, Al the Media Whore was quoted on the subject in today's Sun-Times.

Carpenter is 6-1 lifetime vs. the Cubs, and in 65 career innings has walked only seven Cubs. Patience at the plate!
