Open Thread: Cubs vs. Braves, Saturday 5/27, 12:20 CT

It's another Fox-TV date for the Cubs -- if you can even stand to watch.

The other two early Fox games are Dodgers/Nationals and Mets/Marlins -- so your guess is as good as mine as to where the Cub game will be seen. It'll probably be most of the Central time zone, plus whatever is considered the Braves' territory in the South. If you're west and south of, say, Iowa, I think you're likely to get the late game, Cardinals/Padres.

Jeff Passan at Yahoo wrote a timely column today on the subject of MLB TV blackouts, a subject with which many of you, I know, can identify.

Today's Starting Pitchers
Sean Marshall
S. Marshall
Cubs
vs. Horacio Ramirez
H. Ramirez
Braves
3-2 W-L 0-0
5.29 ERA 15.00
36 SO 3
24 BB 1
4 HR 0
vs. Atl -- vs. Cubs
I don't know what to say about this matchup. Ramirez made one start this year, on April 5, pitched poorly, hurt his hamstring, and has been on the DL since. He's 1-1 in his career with a 3.26 ERA vs. the Cubs. Juan Pierre, who faced him frequently while with the Marlins, is 7-for-22 lifetime. But those stats don't seem to matter lately, do they?

After starting the season well, Marshall has been bad, good, and bad in his last three starts. So you'd think he'd be due for a good one. But those stats don't seem to matter lately, do they?

Finally, you'll note that I've removed the "Put Michael Barrett on the All-Star Team" link. For a myriad of reasons, he really doesn't deserve it.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
