Open Thread: Cubs vs. Padres, Friday 5/5, 9:05 CT

I'm calling this Must. Win. Tonight.

Why? Not because it's a key in a pennant race -- no game in May is -- but because the Cub offense has been missing in action the last few days, and because Z has been awful this year.

Picking it up against the Padres and Park would send a message that the club isn't giving up.

Padres
0-2 W-L 1-1
5.35 ERA 5.34

6 HR 4
vs. SD -- vs. Cubs
Park has made 11 career starts (16 total appearances) vs. the Cubs, with an 8-4, 3.44 ERA. But the last of those eight wins was Sept. 3, 1999, when he was a Dodger. He's a far different pitcher now than he was then.

I hate to even mention this, but Z has never lost to the Padres (4-0 in five career starts). Kiss of death, I know.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
