Open Thread: Cubs vs. Reds, Saturday 6/10, 5:10 CT

The Cubs attempt to start another baby winning streak tonight.

Yeah, I know, that's weak. But it's pretty much all we have right now.

Today's Starting Pitchers
Carlos Zambrano
C. Zambrano
Cubs
vs. Brandon Claussen
B. Claussen
Reds
4-3 W-L 3-6
3.09 ERA 5.40
93 SO 50
49 BB 23
10 HR 13
vs. Cin -- vs. Cubs
Z's last start, of course, was a near no-hitter against the Astros. I firmly believe that Z WILL throw a no-hitter sometime in his career, and likely sooner than later. Tonight doesn't seem likely, as the Reds are a great-hitting team, and GABP is a hitter's park. And, Z is 0-2 with a 5.94 ERA against the Reds this year. Time to turn that around. Z trails Pedro Martinez by one for the ML lead in strikeouts. He also leads the majors in walks.

The Cubs beat Claussen ten days ago at Wrigley Field, and lifetime he's 1-5 with a 7.36 ERA against them. This ought to be a game that Dusty Baker will actually let Phil Nevin start, although Nevin is 0-for-2 lifetime vs. Claussen.

Discuss amongst yourselves.
