Open Thread: Cubs vs. Rockies, Saturday 8/12, 7:05 CT

Angel Guzman, who three years ago was being spoken of in the same breath as Wood/Prior/Zambrano as the next great pitching star to come out of the Cubs' farm system, gets another chance tonight. Juan Mateo will be returned to the minors (it's not yet clear whether he'll go to Iowa, or back to West Tenn) to make room on the roster.

vs. Col -- vs. Cubs
Josh Fogg, who was signed by the Rockies as a free agent over the winter, has made 141 major league starts. 17 of them -- that's 12% -- have come against the Cubs, and he's been putrid -- 4-7 with a 6.21 ERA. In fact, throw out his decent 2002 vs. the Cubs (2-2, 3.60) and since 2003 he's been 2-5, 7.26. His ERA at home this year is 5.46, and he's allowed 12 HR in 57.2 IP at Coors Field.

Time to take advantage of that.

Following are four photos that BCB reader Jed Taylor took at last night's game -- great seat!

The Neifi spotted in the bottom of the 7th geared-up for catching duty. The bullpens are beyond the outfield fence. He didn't do anything but sit there; the Cubs' dugout in the bottom of the 8th; no chance of an autograph request for Dusty waiting for the bottom of the 8th to begin; Eyre just before serving up a HR to Choo Freeman.
