Good news and bad news time!
Good news: the Cubs game is the main Fox game today, going to 46% of the USA (the other games are Phillies/Braves and Indians/Tigers).
Bad news: we'll have to listen to Matt Vasgersian and Mark Grace call the game. That could break TV sound systems all over the country. Those two are both awful.
Good news: you don't have to read the above link to find out if the game's on in your market. I've helpfully made out the list for you (in alphabetical order by city):
Abilene TX, Albuquerque NM, Amarillo TX, American Samoa, Anchorage AK, Bakersfield CA, Beaumont TX, Bend OR, Billings MT, Boise ID, Butte MT, Casper WY, Cedar Rapids IA, Champaign IL, Cheyenne WY, Chicago IL, Chico CA, Colorado Springs CO, Columbia MO, Corpus Christi TX, Dallas TX, Davenport IA, Denver CO, Des Moines IA, El Paso TX, Eugene OR, Eureka CA, Evansville IN, Fairbanks AK, Fort Wayne IN, Fresno CA, Grand Junction CO, Green Bay WI, Guam, Harlingen TX, Honolulu HI, Houston TX, Idaho Falls ID, Indianapolis IN, Joplin MO, Kansas City MO, La Crosse WI, Las Vegas NV, Lexington KY, Lincoln NE, Los Angeles CA, Louisville KY, Lubbock TX, Madison WI, Medford OR, Milwaukee WI, Missoula MT, Monterey CA, North Platte NE, Odessa TX, Oklahoma City OK, Omaha NE, Ottumwa IA, Paducah KY, Palm Springs CA, Peoria IL, Phoenix AZ, Pittsburgh PA, Portland OR, Quincy IL, Reno NV, Rochester MN, Rockford IL, Sacramento CA, Salt Lake City UT, San Angelo TX, San Antonio TX, San Diego CA, San Francisco CA, Santa Barbara CA, Seattle WA, Sherman TX, Sioux City IA, South Bend IN, Spokane WA, Springfield IL, Springfield MO, St. Louis MO, Tampa FL, Terre Haute IN, Topeka KS, Tucson AZ, Tulsa OK, Twin Falls ID, Tyler TX, US Virgin Islands, Victoria TX, Waco TX, Wausau WI, Wichita KS, Wichita Falls TX, Yakima WA, Yuma AZ
Yes, the Virgin Islands, Samoa and Guam. Just in case you're there.
Bad news: well, I dunno. The Cubs could lose again, I suppose. But we are hoping that at last, our "ace" will indeed BE that ace.
| Today's Starting Pitchers
Every time I try to write about trends or predict how a Cub starter might do against that day's opponent, it seems the opposite happens. So this is not a predictor: Z is 1-1 in 8 lifetime appearances (4 starts) vs. the Dodgers, with a 1.74 ERA. In the four starts his ERA is 0.93 in 29 innings. Remember, this is NOT a predictor!
This is Hendrickson's first career start vs. the Cubs. Mark DeRosa has had two career AB's against him, hitting a double and a HR, so I'd expect him to get a start, somewhere. Given the meltdown again last night, it feels like the sort of day for a major Lou lineup shakeup.
This one won't be at the Mediacenter, but here's the link anyway.
