Open Thread: Cubs vs. Dodgers, Sunday 5/27, 3:10 CT

It's goofy pop-culture link day here at BCB, mainly because "Rookie of the Year" is one of the featured movies on HBO the next week or two, and Mark sat and watched it before yesterday's game.

Something's gotta give today -- Randy Wolf has a 1.89 ERA in his last three starts, all at Dodger Stadium, while striking out 22 in 19 innings. Meanwhile, the Cubs have won seven of nine at Dodger Stadium.

Under-the-radar note: the game in St. Louis that was postponed on April 29 due to the death of Josh Hancock will be made up on September 14 as part of a split doubleheader (day game at 1:40 pm CT; night game at 7:40 pm CT -- there's that wacky 7:40 start time again!). This will force the Cubs to leave on a jet plane very quickly to St. Louis, as they have a night game scheduled in Houston on September 13.

Yeah, that last one was a stretch, right? Enough silliness. On to today's game.

vs. LA -- vs. Cubs
Rich Hill has looked like the bad, old Rich Hill in his last three starts, particularly the other day in San Diego when he allowed four home runs. He has never faced the Dodgers before.

Wolf has a 2-5 lifetime record vs. the Cubs with a 4.76 ERA in 11 starts, but the last time he faced the Cubs was on August 1, 2004; not too many players left from that game.

MLB.com Mediacenter -- note: tonight's ESPN game is Tigers/Indians. This will be the last ESPN Sunday game for at least 12 weeks that doesn't involve one of the New York teams, one of the Chicago teams, or the Red Sox. And after mentioning in yesterday's game thread that Fox was carrying the Cub game in Guam "just in case you're there", I got an email from John McClain (no, not this guy), who IS a Cub fan in Guam:

There are cubbie fans on Guam. Me and my wife. Natives from Evanston, serving in the Navy here on Guam. Game came on at 5AM, not too early!!!
Glad you got to see a win, John.
