Open Thread: Cubs vs. Rockies, Tuesday 6/26, 7:05 CT

So what do they do for an encore? After winning last night with the wackiest ninth inning that's been played at Wrigley Field in a long time, if not ever, what next, to try to extend the four-game winning streak?

First, the teams may have to dodge raindrops. The forecast says:

This Afternoon: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 82. South southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 76. Southwest wind between 5 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

At this writing, all thirty of those percentage points are dumping themselves over my house, which is about a mile and a half south of Wrigley Field. Let's hope they get the game in, because tomorrow's forecast:
Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. West southwest wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
... is worse.

vs. Col -- vs. Cubs
Ted Lilly has faced the Rockies only once, last May 21 at Coors Field, where he didn't make it out of the second inning. But, that's Coors, so all bets are off. His walk ratio is still excellent -- he's walked the fewest (18) of anyone in the NL who currently has enough innings to qualify for the ERA title.

I looked at Lopez' stats and had to blink. Can this really be the same guy who had a 9-18 record with a 5.90 ERA and 1.55 WHIP for last year's Orioles, with 32 HR allowed? He's been excellent for the Rockies this year so far.

Time to change all that tonight.

Today's game is on WGN, on FSN Rocky Mountain (I saw one of their crews interviewing the ballhawks on Waveland last night), and at the Mediacenter.

I was remiss last night in not inviting you to check out our SBNation Rockies site, so please do visit Purple Row for the Rox fan point of view.
