Open Thread: Cubs vs. Brewers, Saturday 6/30, 2:55 CT

Just a reminder: despite what printed schedules may say, today's game begins at 2:55 CT, having been switched to accomodate Fox-TV. Not that this really matters, but the Cubs are 4-1 so far in 2007 in games televised on Fox.

As of early this morning the Fox Sports page that usually lists where each game is being carried hadn't been updated since last week. Today, in addition to Cubs/Brewers, Fox is carrying Tigers/Twins and Mets/Phillies, so your guess is as good as mine as to where the game will be seen. You'll want to turn the sound off, too, if you can watch it: Matt Vasgersian and Mark Grace are the broadcast team.

You'll note I haven't said anything about today's game. You know, "kiss of death" and all that. Instead, check out this story which appeared on the front page of today's Sun-Times, about Cliff Floyd's dad Cornelius, who is recovering from heart surgery, and whose doctors arranged to bring him to the ballpark yesterday, thinking it would do him some good. It did:

"This made me really happy, and I'm so glad I did it," he said. "It gave me a chance to get some of that fresh air, and get that summertime feeling back in the body."

"There's no better place for that than Wrigley Field."

Damn straight!

vs. Mil -- vs. Cubs
Marshall's only career appearance vs. Milwaukee was this 14-6 Cub win last September 26; half the Brewers in that lineup aren't even on the team any more.

Ben Sheets used to beat the Cubs like the proverbial drum; however, in the last three years it's been the other way around -- in nine starts vs. the Cubs since July 2004, Sheets is 0-5 with a 5.50 ERA and ten HR allowed, including a 6-3 Cub win in Milwaukee on April 7. That's the Sheets we hope we see today. He's been very consistent most of the year, not allowing more than three runs in any start since April 15.
