It's snowing in Chicago this afternoon and we may have several inches on the ground by morning -- so this is very good timing; today, the Cubs updated their roster and non-roster lists on their website, so I have helpfully put together this numerical list of uniform numbers that we should see when training camp begins in two weeks.
Notes: you'll see that a few of last year's players, including Geovany Soto, Sam Fuld and Eric Patterson, have taken new numbers. This, along with a couple of other new number assignments for both rostered and non-roster players, has created some duplication with a couple of the coaches, based on the lists now at cubs.com. The numbers listed here for Mike Quade and Ivan DeJesus represent my best guess as to what numbers they will wear. Also, the Cubs website has Neal Cotts listed as number 4; I believe this is a typo and he'll wear 48 again this year.
Finally, take careful note of Kevin Hart's new number.
