Perspective: the Cubs have won 66 games. That matches the entire season total from 2006.
Just a couple of quick notes this morning:
ESPN's Keith Law has a list of who will and won't pass through waivers during August. There's no one there who could really help the Cubs; I think that apart from the return of Kerry Wood and five or six September callups, the Cubs' roster is set for the rest of the year.
And, if you were at the minor league game at Wrigley Field with your kids on Tuesday and were disappointed when the downpour cancelled the postgame kids-run-the-bases event, the Cubs are scheduling a makeup opportunity:
With the suspension of the game, the teams were forced to cancel the planned post game activity of having all children, 14 and under, run the bases of Wrigley Field. In an effort to accommodate all of those who wished to take part in this unique opportunity, the Cubs have offered ticket holders of the Peoria contest the opportunity to return to Wrigley and run the bases.
On Sunday, August 17th, the Cubs will host a high school baseball game presented by Under Armour. The game is scheduled to start at 1:35 p.m. Any person holding a ticket from the July 29th Peoria Chief vs Kane County game will be allowed into Wrigley Field for free to watch 2008 Under Armour All-America Baseball game. Once the game concludes, all children 14 and under in attendance will be allowed to run the bases.
That's another opportunity to go to Wrigley Field for those who couldn't ordinarily afford to go -- even if you don't have a ticket from the Chiefs game, tickets to the Under Armour All-America game are only $5. Perhaps some future Cub star will play in that game.

Z had one of his few bad games this year against the Pirates at Wrigley Field on May 17, the first game the Cubs lost to them at home this season. However, six days later in Pittsburgh, he threw seven strong innings in a 12-3 Cubs win. Jason Bay was about the only Pirate with any significant success vs. Z, and he's now in Boston.
The Cubs have hit Snell very well in his career -- he's 1-5, 5.28 in nine career games vs. the Cubs. Alfonso Soriano is 6-for-12 (.500/.571/1.250, 3 HR) and Ryan Theriot (.429/.467/.786, 6-for-14, a double, two triples) and Aramis Ramirez (.348/.400/.522, 8-for-23, 4 doubles) have also hit Snell hard.
Today's game is on WGN and FSN Pittsburgh. Also see the MLB.com Mediacenter.
