World Series Game Three: Giants vs. Rangers, Saturday 10/30, 6 pm CT

New, comments

The odds do not look good for the Texas Rangers.

No team from Texas has ever won a World Series game. That's right -- the Astros got swept in their only appearance in 2005 and the Rangers haven't won yet. That's 0-6.

There hasn't been a World Series extended beyond six games since 2002, and only one since 2003 -- last year's 4-2 win by the Yankees over the Phillies -- has gone more than five games.

Nevertheless, Jonathan Sanchez was, um, less than sharp in his final NLCS start and the Giants won largely because their bullpen bailed him out. Colby Lewis has walked a lot of hitters (11) in three postseason starts, but still has a pretty good WHIP of 1.18 and an ERA of 1.45.

On paper, the Rangers don't have much of a chance. But as the old cliche goes, they don't play the games on paper. Note that tonight's game starts an hour earlier than the first two -- maybe that'll get it done before 10 pm.

6 pm CDT, Fox: Giants at Rangers. Giants lead series 2-0. Announcers: Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.
