Cubs Minor League Wrap--April 24

I'll give you one guess what the big story of the night was.
I'll give you one guess what the big story of the night was.

Iowa Cubs

Rain. Double-header on Monday.

Tennessee Smokies

Rain. Double-header on Sunday.

Daytona Cubs

The Daytona Cubs harpooned the Brevard County Manatees, 1-0. Don't worry. There will be a tropical storm in Florida in August and the D-Cubs will retake the rainout crown.

Dae-Eun Rhee had his first strong start since before his surgery in June of 2008. Rhee pitched six innings and allowed only one hit and one walk. Rhee struck out two.

Aaron Shafer pitched the final three innings of relief for his first save of the season. Shafer allowed four hits but he didn't walk anyone. Shafer fanned three.

The entire offense was a solo home run by left fielder Nelson Perez. Perez was 1 for 3 and the home run was his first on the year.

Peoria Chiefs

Rain. The Chiefs didn't want to miss out on all the card playing in the clubhouse either. They'll play a doubleheader tomorrow, too.
