Cubs Minor League Wrap -- May 12

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs performed an alien autopsy on the Las Vegas 51s, 6-1.

Starter Andrew Cashner was impressive in picking up his first win in AAA. Cashner allowed one run on five hits over six innings. Best of all, he walked only one and struck out six.

Micah Hoffpauir continues to let it ride in Vegas as he went 2 for 4 with a three-run home run. It was his fifth home run of the season and second in two nights.

Right fielder Brad Snyder went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Tennessee Smokies

The Smokies were extinguished by the Carolina Mudcats, 6-5 in ten innings.

Chris Carpenter had a good start tonight, allowing only one run over six innings. He gave up five hits. He walked two and struck out two.

Scott Maine took the loss in relief when he allowed two unearned runs in the tenth. Maine pitched two total innings and allowed three hits and issued one walk. He struck out two.

Third baseman Josh Vitters hit two doubles in four at bats tonight. He scored once and made one error. Catcher Robinson Chirinos was also 2 for 4 with two doubles. Chirinos walked once, scored twice and had one RBI.

Daytona Cubs

The Daytona Cubs arrested the Bradenton Marauders, 10-6.

Starter Rafael Dolis had some trouble tonight as he gave up four runs, three earned, in only four innings. Dolis was tagged for seven hits. He walked four and struck out three.
