On the last night that tonight's starting pitchers, Carlos Zambrano and Randy Wolf, matched up against each other in Milwaukee, the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. (June 9, 2010 at Miller Park. The Cubs hit four home runs off Wolf that night.)
And the previous Miller Park matchup of these two pitchers before that was Big Z's no-hitter on Sept. 14, 2008, when Wolf was with the Astros.
So maybe something historic will happen tonight. Or not. I'd settle for Win #4 of the 2011 regular season.
Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner were placed on the DL today, and Jeff Stevens was recalled and will be available in the bullpen tonight. Presumably, the second move (likely recalling Casey Coleman to start Sunday's game) will be made after Saturday. I'm guessing that Stevens will probably be sent back to Iowa after Monday, to make room for whoever the Cubs decide will take over the other starting position.

Carlos Zambrano's first start of the season, last Saturday vs. the Pirates, resulted in a no-decision in a game the Cubs came back and won. It was neither great nor awful. Miller Park has been one of his favorite places to pitch, though -- he's 9-5, 3.19 in 16 career appearances there (15 starts). Not only that, he's a lifetime .333 hitter there (13-for-39) with five RBI.
Randy Wolf is also a decent career hitter -- .191 with five HR in 587 career AB. Pitching-wise, he's been hit pretty hard by the Cubs over the course of his career, and got pounded by the Reds in his first 2011 start last Sunday. Three Cubs -- Marlon Byrd, Geovany Soto and Alfonso Soriano -- all have hit two HR off him.
Today's game is on CSN Chicago Plus (check your cable system listing for channel; in Chicago it's CLTV and Comcast 285 for HD) and FSN Wisconsin. Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
