The Dodgers have designated several "throwback" dates this season where they will wear an old Brooklyn Dodger uniform, as voted on by Dodger fans; today is one of those dates. The era they chose was the 1940s, as seen here, and the Cubs will play along as well. According to this tweet, the Cubs will be wearing their 1944 uniform. Why they chose 1944 specifically to link is a mystery; this uniform was the road uni from 1943 through 1956, so at least it was worn in a World Series. (And by a myriad of bad teams, too.)
I saw via MLB Extra Innings, a previous Dodger throwback game against the Braves a couple of weeks ago. One thing they did that made the illusion of it being a 1940s game more realistic is that they made the uniforms baggier, like the real ones from that era, and every player wore the high socks that players wore in the 1940s. I hope they do that again today.
Here are the starting players who will be wearing those uni's:
Castro SS, Barney 2B, Byrd CF, Ramirez 3B, Baker RF, Soto C, Soriano LF, Peña 1B, Zambrano P
The Dodgers lineup was not available at the time of posting. Probably too busy trying on those spiffy uniforms.

Big Z got torched pretty good by the Dodgers on April 24 at Wrigley Field, although he did not allow a home run. He was much better in his last outing last Friday at Arizona. Andre Ethier, going for a 30-game hitting streak, is 7-for-16 lifetime against Carlos.
Ted Lilly's former Cubs teammates treated him roughly in Chicago on April 23, although he, too, did not allow a home run, and also pitched better in his last start, Friday vs. the Padres. Dodger Stadium is a much better home run park during the daytime. Perhaps we'll see some hit off Ted this afternoon.
Today's game is on CSN Chicago and Prime Ticket LA. Those of you outside Chicago with EI get the privilege of hearing Vin Scully. Here is the complete MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
Today's first pitch thread will be up at 2 p.m. CDT and the overflow threads will post at 3 pm, 4 pm and 4:45 pm CDT. If you need more overflows due to extra innings, post them in the fanshot section.
