Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs lost the "Battle of the Bears" to the Fresno Grizzlies, 3-2.
Starting pitcher Jay Jackson didn't pitch poorly, but got the loss anyway. He allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out two.

Rained out. Double-header tomorrow.
Daytona Cubs
The Daytona Cubs were mauled by the Lakeland Flying Tigers, 11-6.
Matt Loosen had a rough start. He gave up six runs in the second inning, all after two were out. An earlier error by Greg Rohan made all six of those runs unearned. But he continued to pitch the third inning and to the first three batters of the fourth inning. When all was said and done, Loosen pitched 3+ innings and allowed ten runs on eleven hits, including two home runs to Flying Tiger first baseman Jordan Lennerton. He walked two and didn't strike out anyone. As I mentioned earlier, six of the ten runs were unearned.
Right fielder Abner Abreu hit his first Cub home run in the second inning with a man on. He went 1 for 3 with a walk.
Third baseman Greg Rohan also homered with a man on in the third inning. It was his fourth home run in 17 games at Daytona.
Second baseman Logan Watkins went 2 for 5 with two RBI. He scored once.
Peoria Chiefs
The Peoria Chiefs stole the honey from the Burlington Bees, 6-2.
Starter Austin Kirk pitched well in a no-decision, going six innings and allowing only one run on four hits. He walked two and struck out three.
Alvaro Sosa got the win in relief of Kirk. He allowed one unearned run on a hit and a walk. Sosa struck out one.
Daniel Berlind got his second save. The only baserunner he allowed over 1.2 innings was through an error. He struck out two.
Center fielder Taiwan Easterling went 4 for 5 with a double and two stolen bases. He scored twice and knocked two in.
Left fielder Ben Klafczynski went 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. He had one RBI. Third baseman Arismendy Alcantara was 2 for 4 and scored once.
Boise Hawks
The Boise Hawks were shut out by the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 6-0.
Jose Rosario pitched the first four innings without allowing a run. He surrendered three hits and did not walk anyone. He struck out two.
Cam Greathouse relieved Rosario and he allowed a hit and issued three walks without retiring a single batter. All four runners eventually came around to scored, dropping Greathouse's record to 0-5.
Catcher Yaniel Cabezas went 2 for 4.
AZL Cubs
Between Rookie Ball, the Grizzlies and the Volcanoes, the Cubs played the Giants three times today.
