Well, here's a story to take our minds off, um, other events of the day. It's been tweeted by several reporters; here's one from Bruce Miles:

#Cubs get 1B Anthony Rizzo and P prospect Zach Cates for Andrew Cashner and OF prospect Kyung-Min Na in trade with Padres

It's clear to me that Theo and Jed expect Rizzo to be the Cubs' starting first baseman, given the status of Andrew Cashner as a possible key part of the rotation or bullpen for 2012; you wouldn't give up someone like that unless you thought the return was going to be a starting player.

Rizzo clearly has big upside at his age (just 22) and he is familiar to both Theo & Jed, since Theo traded him to Jed last offseason as part of the Adrian Gonzalez deal.

I don't know much about Na nor Cates; perhaps Josh can fill in those details.

Talk about a rebuild -- man, now we have a rebuild. Have at it.
