SCOTTSDALE, Arizona -- Some baseball people say spring training is too long. They might have a point.

Today is the Cubs' 31st spring-training game. They are 14-15-1 in the first 30. There aren't too many things that haven't already been decided, and yet, we'll still see the team play five more games that don't count.

Personally, I'm ready for Opening Day. The Cubs do still have a couple of bullpen roles yet to be decided, but other than that, they seem ready, too.

Cubs lineup:

DeJesus RF, Barney 2B, Castro SS, LaHair 1B, Soriano LF, Stewart 3B, Byrd CF, Soto C, Dempster P

This could very well be the Opening Day lineup, though I'd like to think Dale Sveum would have the good sense to bat Geovany Soto higher than eighth.

Dodgers lineup was not available at posting time.

Ryan Dempster will take the mound at HoHoKam Park. He'll face a Dodgers split-squad team that will start journeyman Fernando Nieve, who last pitched in the major leagues for the Mets in 2010. Other Dodger pitchers expected to make the trip include Mike MacDougal, Scott Elbert, Javy Guerra and Kenley Jansen.

Today's game is on cubs.com with Len Kasper and Mick Gillispie. Here is the MLB.com Mediacenter for today.

Note that for spring training gameday links, you probably will not get pitch-by-pitch as during the regular season; these are unofficial links. Each play will be posted, but might not be updated until after each half-inning.

There will be one overflow thread, which will post at 4:30 pm CT. The "Recent Stories in Game Threads" box on the sidebar is where you'll find it.
