SOMEWHERE IN MISSOURI -- As this posts at 1 p.m. CDT, I should be somewhere in central Missouri, heading up I-44 on the way back to Chicago.
I promise to leave some negative vibes when I pass by Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
If you're wondering why Bryan LaHair hasn't played the last couple of days, he tweaked his back and says he should be ready for Opening Day on Thursday. Since I am writing this Sunday night, I don't know yet who'll be in the lineup for today's game -- check the BCB Twitter feed, I hope to be able to tweet out lineups.
I'd like to see more regulars play the last couple of days of camp, but I don't think we'll see much of that. Usually, the final game -- tomorrow, it starts an hour earlier at 2 p.m. CDT -- sees regulars play about four innings and then rush out of HoHoKam to catch the plane to Chicago.
Jay Jackson gets the start for the Cubs today, the second of three minor-leaguers who will start the final three games of spring camp (Travis Wood, tomorrow). I don't get it either. Patrick Corbin starts for the Diamondbacks.
Site note: since I will be on the road well into the evening today, I've asked Josh to write today's game recap. He'll be starting his minor league wraps when the minor league season begins, the same day the MLB season starts, on Thursday.
Today's game is on cubs.com with Len Kasper & Mick Gillispie. Here is the MLB.com Mediacenter for today.
Note that for spring training gameday links, you probably will not get pitch-by-pitch as during the regular season; these are unofficial links. Each play will be posted, but might not be updated until after each half-inning.
There will be one overflow thread, which will post at 4:30 pm CT. The "Recent Stories in Game Threads" box on the sidebar is where you'll find it.
