Famous (OK, maybe not-so-famous) lasts:
- Last time the Cubs swept a series: August 1-4, 2011, at Pittsburgh
- Last time the Cubs swept a series at Wrigley Field: July 22-24, 2011, vs. Astros
- Last time the Cubs swept the Cardinals: Sept. 13-15, 2010, at St. Louis
- Last time the Cubs swept the Cardinals at Wrigley Field: July 27-30, 2006
In fact, that awful 2006 Cubs team, that lost 96 games, swept the Cardinals twice at Wrigley Field -- they also did it from April 7-9, and wound up 11-8 against the team that wound up winning the World Series that year. This year's Cubs team might not be very good, either, but they've got a chance to do something that no Cubs team has done in six years -- sweep their division rivals at home.
Sounds good to me.

We have yet another pitching rematch this afternoon; these two pitchers matched up in St. Louis on April 14. Volstad wasn't bad -- he got a "quality start" out of the outing by giving up three runs in six innings -- but Lynn was better, allowing the Cubs just one run. The Cubs offense was pretty meek that day, with just five singles and a double. Perhaps today will be better.
